EMBASSY AND CONSULATE OF GEORGIA

The Embassy of Georgia doesn’t presently exist in Portugal. This project is a proposal. It is located close to other embassies in Lisbon, between R. de Alcolena and Av. do Restelo. The complex includes the embassy, the consulate of Georgia, and a private residence for the ambassador. The main building fuses with the existing landscape.

RECONSTRUCTION OF A CARAVANSARY

The proposal is a reconstruction of an abandoned caravansary in Tbilisi, next to the Sioni Cathedral, between Kote Afkhazi St and Sioni St. The design leaves the old parts of the building as they are. The interventions, made with modern materials, are distinct in style from the preexisting construction.

DIAGRAMS OF ALDO ROSSI’S GALLARATESE BUILDING

Diagrammatic studies of Aldo Rossi’s building in the Gallaratese district of Milan, Italy. The project aims to explain what Rossi was trying to achieve and what was so innovative about it. Originally made for an essay: The White Tail of Milan

AMBASSADOR’S RESIDENCE

The ambassador’s residence is part of the complex of the Georgian Embassy in Portugal, separated from it by a gate and a water mirror. It uses a similar design and material choices as the embassy to signify their connection. It stands on the same level as the roof garden of the main building.

HOUSING FOR THE ELDERLY

The complex is located on the Northern shore of the Tbilisi Reservoir. The living spaces face the southeast. This project is for senior residents who still live on their own. It integrates all necessities for living, thereby becoming an almost self-sufficient entity. It includes tennis courts, a public swimming pool, parking spaces for more than 20 vehicles, and an amphitheater.

APARTMENT BUILDING RENOVATIONS

The project is a renovation of apartment buildings on 9 April Ave. in Poti, Georgia. It involves the systematic transformation of each existing façade. Winter gardens and balconies are added to every apartment, giving the residents access to more space and light. The design gives a distinct identity to the entire avenue.

WINTER GREENHOUSE

The winter greenhouse (plant conservatory) uses a wooden structure and a minimalist design. It has a pathway in the middle and two separate spaces for people. Like any greenhouse, it allows exotic and rare plants to flourish in naturally unfavorable environments.

APARTMENT BUILDING

The apartment building is close to Tbilisi City Hall. The combined concrete and steel structure determines the exterior aesthetic and features a public green roof. It is meant to replace existing large apartment buildings that no longer fulfill their purpose effectively.

MULTISTORY PARKING BUILDING

This building aims to fulfill the parking requirements of the center of Tbilisi. It stands South of Liberty Square, where parking issues are especially prominent. The building has parking spaces for around 200 vehicles spread across three stories and public areas on the roof.

WINERY BETWEEN TWO RIVERS

The complex includes a wine factory, a museum, a hotel, an amphitheater, a winter garden, and a restaurant. It stands near Telavi, Kakheti. As the name suggests, two existing rivers encircle the complex. Because of the site, the project involves a new connection for two existing roads.

THEATER CAFÉ

The design of the Café uses only custom-made chairs, sofas, tables, and lights. The products use copper, marble, and different types of fabrics. Forms and characteristics usually associated with theaters inspire the design.

PRIVATE RESIDENCE

Located in Shindisi, the triangular shape of the existing site determines the form of the building. The aim was to maximize the sizes of the living spaces while complying with the regulations. The facades use exposed concrete, regular glass, and occasionally channel glass for privacy.

FLUID TERRITORIES

See pages 31-39 of the attached Session Book for our project. The project was an analysis and proposal for the improvement of the northern Paris Region. We created the project for the 40th International Workshop of Urban Design in Cergy-Pontoise. Conceived in collaboration with an international team of young professionals, including economists, urban planners, and architects.
